Rapid Response Team
The Rapid Response Team is a group of professionals coordinated through the New York State Department of Labor who are versed in everything from economic development to unemployment benefits. The team consists of representatives from the following organizations and may also include others, depending on circumstances and need.
New York State Department of Labor Unemployment Division
Staff from this department will tell workers how to apply for Unemployment Insurance benefits through the Unemployment Insurance Telephone Claims Center. They will also explain how severance pay, temporary jobs and other income may or may not impact unemployment insurance.
One Stop Career Center
A representative will describe services available at the four One Stop Centers in Erie County. These services range from job placement assistance to career counseling and testing. The Centers also have a host of workshops available, including resume writing, networking and learning interview techniques.
New York State Department of Employment Services
The Employment Division will give information on the assistance their offices provide, including labor market information, job matching, job finding clubs and other self-help services.
Erie County Industrial Development Agency
Their representative will distribute a customized guide to employment and training which can help in the transition from one job to another. The guide contains material on training, education, financial aid and other community services available in Erie County.
